Description
Every civilization has its own unique culture which is constantly evolving. Culture is the ideal example of change being the only constant. Where does that leave us who are creatures of definite beginnings and ends? Are we riding the crest of a wave or sliding into a trough? Will all that we know now disappear in our quest to become part of a singular global culture or will fanatics zealously guard it and reduce it to dogma? Are these the only options or do we have the sensitivity to provide an alternative?
Tamizh presented by Madhuvanthi and Arun is an effort to develop such sensitivity. This presentation explores the culture of the Tamizh speaking people by delving into their language, religion, arts, folklore and social life. The product is representative of each of these facets and elaborates on specific themes bringing out the dynamic nature of culture by using interaction between various media. The design of Tamizh is metaphorical to the inherent nature of culture. Tamizh people, literature, arts and society have had a turbulent, glorious and more importantly distinctly individual personality. It has given a lot to other civilizations as well as imbibed selectively from them resulting in a rich heritage and a world where respect for the self and responsibility to society elevates every individual to become the pillars of a progressive global community.
