We present to you one of Kuchipudi’s beloved treasures, a unique gem from the archives of the great temples of South India – the ritualistic dance SIMHANANDINI. This beautiful piece sings the glory of the magnificent Goddess Durga, who, seated on her majestic lion, is ready to conquer all evil and grant victory to all that is good. The dancer draws the figure of a lion with her feet, on coloured powder, as an offering to the Divine Mother.

Vasanthalakshmi is a gifted lyricist, choreographer and much acclaimed Nattuvanar. The Charis are recipients of several prestigious awards like the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for Kuchipudi, the Kalaimamani, Nrithychoodamani, Nritya Ratna , to name a few.
