Written by Chitralaya Sriram, an eminent playwright, it has been staged 100 times within India and abroad under the auspices of UAA- United Amateur Artistes, the 54-year old Tamil theatre group backed by a fine repertoire of over 50stage plays and 5,000 shows. It has won wide appreciation for its humour, neat direction, brisk flow, interesting characterization and brilliant performance.

Mahendra is no stranger to the Tamil film or theatre audiences. Son of Y.G.Parthasarathy, the patriarch of the Tamil stage who founded the UAA in 1952, he made his debut on stage at the age of 10. He has several plays and over 100 films and a score of television serials to his credit.
